10 in 2010: Book Edition

I have a problem finishing things. In an effort to change my horrible laziness I’ve compiled a list of books that I will choose ten to finish by the end of 2010. I figured I’d give myself options and leeway as I’m new to this whole finishing things deal. Every change will be noted as will lines that impress me.
. I’m the only one who believes I can do this. I started in April.
The Ten:
1) The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
* finished 3/29/10 (jump start on reading)
-Lovely little book. Impressed by point of view. Endearing story.

2) The Unvanquished by William Faulkner

*finished 4/7/10
-Rough book to read, enjoyed last 15 pages most.

“Sometimes I think the finest thing that can happen to a man is to love something, a woman preferably, well, hard and hard, then to die young because he believed what he could not help but believe and was what he could not (could not? would not) help but be.” page 171

3) Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote (*replacing Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro)
*finished 4/15/10
-Absolutely adorable and much better than movie version. Three short stories were pretty spectacular as well.
“Naturally these goings-on happen at night when the colored lights cast crazy patterns and the victrola wails.” A Christmas Memory page 146

4) Intern by  Sandeep Jauhar
*finished 5/3/10
-Thoroughly entertaining book about the journey through life and medicine. Found myself wishing I had gone into pre med while it was still a viable option.
"Just living in New York, I thought, could be a full-time job." page 50

5) Helmet for my Pillow by Robert Leckie
*finished 6/2/10

6) Sookie Stackhouse novels 6 through 10 by Charlene Harris
*Finished in the month of June

(break from reading lasting one month)

7) Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
*finished 8/2/10
"
If a mother was Sacrifice personified, then a daughter was Guilt, with no possibility of redress.
"

(break from reading lasting one month
read magazines: Vogue/Discover)

8) Packing For Mars by Mary Roach
*finished 9/29/10
"
Yes, the money could be better spent on Earth. But would it? Since when has money saved by government redlining been spent on education and cancer research? It is always squandered. Let's squander some on Mars. Let's go out and play.
"
